Description:

Propoed project represents a complete historic renovation of the former Lion Knitting Mills building located on the NE corner of West 25th Street & Meyer Avenue.  The development will include 36 affordable apartments, leasing office, workout facilities, and a community room.  The development will utilize Federal Historic Preservation Tax Credits and Low Income Housing Tax Credits to fund the $9-million project.

Notes:  

Design review of this project falls strictly under the Cleveland Landmarks Commission and State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).  It is being presented to the Near West Design Review Committee as a courtesy and to provide feedback on site design & building architectural details.

Committee has no jurisdiction in the design review for this project because of its designation as a Cleveland Landmarks property.  The Committee was supportive of the project in terms of its proposed conversion to residential, design of replacement windows, and site improvements that included new decorative fencing, board-on-board screening fencing, and parking lot layout.  This information was passed along to the Landmarks Commission which reviewed the project on December 15, 2015 and January 28, 2016.
